Now chapter books refer to beginning chapter books with illustrations meant for ages 6 to 8 while the term middle grade applies to books written for children who are in upper elementary grades and middle school, grades 4 to 7. Basically, 6th graders (11-year-olds) are the perfect age reader for middle grade books because middle grade books are written for 9 to 12-year-olds. Middle grade books are novels that back in the old days (when I first started teaching) were called chapter books. What does that mean for you? The Imagination Soup book lists can help you! You don’t have to read (preview) all the books. And, to save you time, so you don’t have to read all the books. Yes, reading fast is my superpower, I developed Imagination Soup as a resource for teachers, parents, librarians, and grandparents to share all the best books for kids, including new releases, best sellers, and classics. Now, as a book blogger, I can read all the books and save you time! My goal when I was a teacher was to read all the books my students so I could perfectly match books to readers, not to mention my two children, who both went through their own reading challenges and motivation issues. That’s the good news and where I can help.
