![]() ![]() I am running the Kef LS50 Metas full range, and using the subs to fill. I recently purchased a pair of Kef ls50 Meta speakers to go along with my pair of SVS 3000 Micro subs. Sand can help with this, assuming the Stand itself is already generally stable and able to handle the weight. The LS50 Meta has inherited its distinctive good looks from the original LS50, with its low-diffraction, curved baffle precision modelled around the Uni-Q driver array. You want stands that are rock stable, free from wiggle or wobble, vibration, or resonance. 160287-26318 KEF LS50 Speaker Stands Just bought a pair of KEF LS50s and was wondering what height speaker stands I should get. If you don't feel you need the added Mass, then I would be inclined to fill the columns with a dense pack of Fiberglass wall insulation.īut the added mass is just like Stand Quality mentioned by someone else. So, thye really should be filled with something with anti-resonance properties. Keep in mind those Steel (or sometimes wood) Center Columns are like the Pipes on a Pipe Organ, they are a column of air just begging to resonate. If I were going to fill stands with sand, I would just put the sand in Zip-Lock Bags and keep dropping bags in until I had reached the amount of sand I wanted. KEF LS50 Meta (Pair, Carbon Black) & S2 Speaker Stand (Pair, Carbon Black) 290 2,04998 (1,024. Sand does have fine dust that can leak out if your stands aren't completely sealed, where as Aquarium Gravel will not have this problem. While sand, pardon the pun, is dirt cheap, I think I would use fine Aquarium Gravel. High mass stands are far less likely to resonate. Here are some examples.Ĭlick to expand. There is an element of MASS. I like stands that have a large center column, or have multiple large Columns. With 24" stands, the Tweeter would be at about 30". I would suspect that 24" to 28" are the standard, with 28" stands, the Tweeter would then be at 34". So, you have a lot of flexibility in the placement of the speaker. In nice round numbers, if we assume a fan-out of ☗.5° or a full arc of 15°, then the sound has spread about 3ft If we use a more realistic ☑5°, then the full fan-out arc is about 6ft (5.8ft). See Below.īut remember, Tweeter, which are the critical factor, have a Fan-Out, that is, the sound spreads out as it moves from the Tweeter. Though in all honest, I would probably go for 28" stands. If - in my case - my goal is 36", then 36 - 6 = 30". The LS50 are about 12" high, putting the Tweeter at about 6" above the stand. I think my ears are about 40" at my computer desk and about 36" in my living room sitting in my recliner. Generally you want the Tweeter roughly Ear Level when they are placed on the stands. ![]() are no best stands for the LS50, there are only the best Stands for YOU, your circumstances, and your budget. ![]()
